Guest in Nepomuk.

In the framework of the annual meeting of the two working groups, the Foundation Swalmen-Nepomuk brought of 19 till 23 may visit to Nepomuk in the Czech Republic. The Foundation was, on behalf of the municipality of Roermond, accompanied by Mayor van Beers, his wife and councilor Marij Pilz van Elven. Further musicgroup “'t Kump waal” and a delegation of broad school “de Octopus”. The Group was supplemented by individual interested parties. After a relaxing trip on Thursday, the Group was welcomed by the colleague working group from Nepomuk.

Friday there was an official reception at the town hall where both mayors could make knowledge with each other and also the Foundation could get acquainted with the new mayor of Nepomuk mr. Vaclav Kovar. At the same time, the delegation of the schools from Swalmen had a meeting with colleagues from the school in Nepomuk. The schools have long contact with each other and the ongoing projects were evaluated as the e-mail project in which students exchange information with each other in the English language. Also, the delegation could look in the ' kitchen ' of the school. There were lessons attended, there was sung for the guests which noticed that creativity and music are highly present. In the afternoon, first there was the opening of an exhibition of the attended art school from Nepomuk and then the completely renovated House of painter Augustin Nemejc was visited. Augustin Nemejc (1861-1938) is, after the holy John of Nepomuk, perhaps the most famous citizen of Nepomuk. With his paintings, he gained world fame. After this tour, the guests were given a concert of an accordion ensemble presented. After that music group 't Kump waal made some nice music and the “sjwung” got really in to it.

Early Saturday we left for a surprise from our colleague working group. In the city Susice the group was put in rubber boats for a raft to Horadovice. It all seemed very simple but before a boat already left, one person from the group got a wet suit. A few hours later, in a harmless looking Rapid, some others also managed that also. With the help of others where the ' drowning ' on dry land and in the boat again. One could still all there happy laugh. After a fantastic buffet, offered by the municipality Nepomuk, in Nepomuk there was spoken about this sporty day until the early hours.

Sunday there was the annual meeting of the Foundation Swalmen-Nepomuk and the workgroup Pracovni Skupina Nepomuk-Swalmen. The past year has been evaluated, brought new ideas to the table and discussed the plans 2012 when the annual meeting in Swalmen takes place on the weekend of 7-11 June. A visit to the World Horticultural Expo, Venlo - The Netherlands which is also called "Floriade" is planned and various other exchanges. The Foundation Swalmen-Nepomuk is very pleased with the good and positive support of the municipality of Roermond. Also Mayor Kovar spoke out for a positive cooperation with Roermond-Swalmen. He was invited by the Mayor of Beers to next year, when the annual meeting will be in Swalmen, in the Town Hall in Roermond. This encourages us to continue to look and work to the good relations of the two cities to preserve and to bring people together in order to keep discovering each other's culture.
